Privacy policy

LK Silico is a Kansas research and voter-targeting service used by campaigns, committees and their advisers. Everything behind a login is confidential. This page says what we collect, what we do with it, what we will never do with it, and how to reach us. It is written to be read, not skimmed past.

The short version

• We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
• Data a client uploads belongs to that client. We process it for that client only and delete it when the engagement ends or when asked.
• There are no advertising trackers or analytics pixels on this site. The only cookie is the one that keeps you signed in.
• Voter and donor records are never sent to any artificial-intelligence model.

What we collect

• Account and access records. Your username, the time of each sign-in, the network address and browser identifier of the device used, and the pages, searches and exports made under your login. We keep these to run the service, to spot misuse, and because the terms of access make every user accountable for what happens under their login.
• Data a client puts in. Voter files, donor databases, notes, contact details and photos on a client's own contact card, and anything typed into the Lab. These are held for the client that uploaded them and are visible only to that client's logins and to the operator.
• Your card. What you choose to tell us on the Account page: name, contact details, address, county, birth year, gender, party registration, and the optional demographic fields a pollster uses to weight a sample, plus your picture if you add one. The card is for two things only: reaching you the way you asked, and building research samples you opted into. Every opt-in (texts, the survey lab, email briefs) is recorded with its time, and you can switch any of them off on the same page.
• Alert preferences. If you turn on alerts, the email address or mobile number you give us for them.
• Text-message research. When a poll is sent by text, the number, the message sent, the reply, and the time, kept as the record of the answer and of consent.
• Public-source material. Sentinel reads public records: broadcast political files, platform ad libraries, campaign-finance filings, news feeds and public data sets. These describe sponsors and spending, not individuals, and they are not personal information about you.

How we use it

To provide the service you or your organization signed up for; to keep it secure; to honor the terms of access; to produce the analysis, maps, memos and alerts you asked for; and to meet legal obligations. Memos and drafts marked as AI-generated are produced from cited public material and the client's own tested messages. No voter or donor record leaves the service to a model provider.

Kansas voter registration data

Voter registration data obtained from the State of Kansas or its counties may be used only as Kansas law permits (see K.S.A. 25-2320 and related provisions), and not for commercial purposes. We hold it for the permitted purposes of the client that obtained it, and the terms of access bind every user to the same limits.

Who else sees it

• The client that owns it. A client's logins see that client's data and nothing else.
• Service providers that run parts of the plumbing under contract: the hosting provider that stores the service, the email delivery service and the text-messaging carrier used for alerts and research texts, the domain and network provider. Each receives only what it needs to do its job.
• Map tiles, fonts and video players. When you choose the street or satellite view, your browser fetches map tiles from OpenStreetMap or Esri; page fonts load from Google Fonts; embedded ads on Sentinel play through YouTube. Those providers see your network address and the request, as with any web page that uses them. They receive no data from your account.
• When the law requires it, such as a valid subpoena or court order, and then only what is required. Where we are permitted to, we will tell the affected client first.

How long we keep it

• Access and activity records: thirteen months, then purged.
• Security events (lockouts, breach signals): twenty-four months.
• Client-uploaded data: for the engagement, and thirty days after it ends or after a written request to delete, whichever comes first.
• Text-message research records: for the study and the consent record, then purged with the client's data.
• Alert preferences: until you change or remove them.

Security

The measures we take are described on How we protect data. If personal information in our care is exposed, we will notify the affected client without unreasonable delay and follow the Kansas breach notice statute, K.S.A. 50-7a01 and following, and the client's contract.

Your choices

• Reply STOP to any research text and you will not be texted again from this service.
• Change or remove alert email and phone details on your account page.
• Ask what we hold under your login, or ask a client's data to be deleted, by writing to the address below. Clients may make these requests for their own data at any time.

Children

The service is for adults working on campaigns and research. It is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under eighteen.

Changes

When this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes and the change is noted in the site's changelog. Continued use after a change is acceptance of it.
